In a never ending quest to expand the literal palate, I’m trying to enjoy more white wines. I remember tasting Rieslings went I went to Oregon in 1990 and I had a glass with some fish 3 weeks ago in a restaurant, so it was time to find a bottle. When I was at the Wine Library to pick up an order I asked for a recommendation on a Riesling in the mid teens. The grumpy pointed me to the Max e Riesling for $13 in a sexy blottle with twist off cap, and away I went with 1 bottle to try.
It is Wednesday night we had to eat and knowing I had a Riesling to try I suggested Aji Sushi. I was hoping that would go well. It was an enjoyable meal and we got through half to bottle at dinner. It went well with the food.
The wine itself is lively on the tongue with sour apple and honeydew flavors. At 11% alcohol and a little chilled, it is easy to drink and very enjoyable. It is a good introduction into Rieslings for me making me want to pick up a few more of these for the future. Worth the $13.
