I had brought this bottle to a BBQ at Bill Lash’s house a month ago and just drank and didn’t really have an opportunity to review and blog about it at that point. I do recall not being too thrilled with it but we had a different Argentinian Malbec at dinner with my parents the other night that was pretty good, so with that still fresh on my palate, I figured it would be a good time to give this one another go.
This isn’t quite as violet in color as the one the other night, this wine’s tint’s a bit more toward ruby and I can see my fingers through its translucence. Like the color of this wine has hints of Pinot Noir in its nosedoes also. It has a earthy nose to it, that is for sure, maybe a bit of leather.
When tasting, there isn’t much up-front fruitiness, the wine does gain momentum in the middle and picks up speed through the finish. The alcohol level is 14% and it doesn’t feel too hot especially considering it is only 2 years old and I’m tasting it 5 minutes after I unscrewed the top. At $10 a bottle there is nothing to complain about as it is a good effort and give you a real drinking wine for the money.
[...] I love the site, it is nice an close, so close I decided to bike to a fro the trial location. All told, I got 23 miles in during the first day that included Scraps running in 6 events. As we found out NADAC is a bit less forgiving than CPE with respect to requiring near perfect runs. As a result, Scraps seemed to run well with good focus but he only qualifies in 1 or 2 of the six potneital runs. In any case,. it was a gorgous day that was just lots of fun filled with dogs, cometition, bike riding and nice weather. It ends with me blogging about the day and drinking some Argetinian Malbec red wine. [...]
Can you mention the wine you had .. that you appeared to like better than the Goulet Clasico… you mention it .. but with NO NAME on July 11th 2009 entries.
I liked the “C” goulart clasico but… would you mind mentioning that one.
Dear Elise:
First of all I can’t believe anyone read this.
Secondly, I have no idea what the wine I referenced in the posting was. I didn’t keep of what we drank that night and I didn’t take any pictures. Sorry. It was at Carmine’s in Livingston, NJ. 973-992-4167 and I assume a phone call to them would reveal this answer for you.
Thanks for reading the blog.
